Adorable DIY Cardboard Coasters
When it comes to useful home decor, I’m a sucker for a good DIY. I love taking a bit of scrap and turning it into something that looks great and starts a conversation. These cute, kitschy DIY Cardboard Coasters are a fun little craft that can be really useful for every home. And because they are so simple and easy to make, you might think they aren’t very durable. But the combination of sturdy cardboard and Mod Podge means they are pretty water resistant and hard to ruin! Still, when they inevitably get lost, stolen or worn out, you won’t mind the loss since they are literally made out of garbage!
Plus, you can choose themes and decorate accordingly. These are great for parties, working for any holiday or occasion!

Supplies:
- 10” x 10” square of heavy weight cardboard
- Pen
- Craft scissors
- Mod Podge
- 4 coordinating scrapbook papers
- 4 coordinating pictures (cut into a circle shape about 2 inches in diameter)
- Glue gun
- 2 pieces of felt
Instructions:
Step 1. Draw (or trace) 4 circles that are 4 inches across, on the cardboard.

Step 2. Cut these out.

Step 3. Draw or trace a 6 inch wide circle on each of your 4 scrapbook papers.

Step 4. Cut out each of the 4 scrapbook circles.
Step 5. Turn the scrapbook circles upside down and set the cardboard circles in the center. Make approximately 14 cuts around the outside (as shown).

Step 6. Use the glue gun to secure the cut tabs one at a time until you make your way around the entire coaster.

Step 7. Repeat this step for all the coasters.

Step 8. Use the paintbrush and put a thin layer of Mod Podge on the top and sides of each coaster. Let this dry and repeat.
Step 9. Apply a 3rd layer of Mod Podge to the top of all four coasters, but this time place the 4 embellished papers in the center of the coasters. Apply another thin coat of Modge podge.

Step 10. Apply a 4th and 5th layer of Mod Podge letting the coats dry in between.

Step 11. Cut four circles from the felt that are just barely smaller than the 4” coasters. Use the glue gun to attach them making sure to get around the edges well.

How cute are these coasters?? So pretty and easy and functional!

Definitely try making some yourself and let me know how they turn out. I’d love to see what you come up with!
