Photoshoot in The Garden

A few years ago, I was trying to use a very old camera to learn photography. One of my big goals was that I wanted to learn how to actually get clear photos at night.

Nowadays, I’d just use my amazingly perfect Canon G7X camera, as it is seriously my favorite thing ever. It has such great quality at night time, and it doubles as an awesome video camera as well (especially in low light situations)! But back then I had a really battered Kodak that wasn’t really getting the job done.

Still, I tried my best to create moody photographs using whatever models I could find. My favorite photoshoot was in a cemetery, but I also really loved some late night drunken photos I took of my husband (then just my boyfriend) in our back yard. My friend Pat was there, too – the same one in the cemetery shoot, and I just kept taking photos with only the light from our cigarettes and the full moon to brighten them up.

As you can imagine, they didn’t turn out amazingly well. They were fuzzy and grainy and not really up to much. But I still love them, as they really captured the mood of that evening.

Over the years, I’ve posted them on various blogs, watermarked with whatever the blog name of the moment was. I eventually lost all of the originals, but I managed to find the last iteration, watermarked across the bottom of each photo. To post them here, I’ve had to crop out the old logos, which means many of the photos look unbalanced. But hey ho. What can you do? I haven’t by any means perfected my photo storage. Hopefully I won’t have that problem in the future.
